Hi there!

I'm Jannicka, the gal behind the camera here at Way Up North Photography! I’m a lifestyle family and wedding photographer based in Alaska, serving the areas of Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer, and Wasilla.

While I’ve moved all over the country with my husband and two kids over the past few years, Alaska is now home! I love the misty mountains, the green trees, the blue rivers, and the fresh air. My daily life consists of homeschooling my kids, attempting the backyard homestead thing, and trying to drink enough water. We live in a blue house in the woods with our two Doodle dogs, two cats who act like dogs, and way too many houseplants! I love Jesus, tacos, gardening, baking, thrifting, exploring, and spending time with friends and family.

I absolutely love photographing families, intimate weddings, and elopements! My goal is to capture your Alaskan adventures in the most authentic way possible. My approach is very candid and relaxed—I do have a few poses I use, but you’ll never hear me say “just look at the camera and smile!”. I prefer to photograph what’s happening naturally between you and your special people: all those little moments that occur while you're laughing, playing, tickling, snuggling, hugging, kissing, talking, or running. I want to capture you just being YOU.
