Last October Cassie contacted me about photographing a party she was throwing for her husband to celebrate his retirement from the Air Force. She was planning a small celebration with family, friends, and co-workers, and it was very important to have someone there to capture the details and guests. Cassie, Mark, and their three little girls had just moved into a new house in Arlington, Virginia, so this was a very special retirement/housewarming/family celebration for them. The minute I arrived at their beautiful home I knew it was going to be an amazing evening!
This retirement party was elegant but understated. The Party Bee--an upscale party planning and catering company in the DC area--did the decor, flowers, and food, and I absolutely loved working with their team! They used the Air Force colors of navy and white for the table linens and decor; beautiful bouquets of hydrangeas and sunflowers around the house; hanging mason jar candles and petite white candles scattered around both inside and outside; and adorable cafe lights strung around the backyard. There was a bar set up on the back patio as well as a fire pit, which was perfect for the chilly fall evening. Everything worked together to set the perfect mood for this elegantly casual party. Cassie drew out a very detailed timeline of Mark's military career, highlighting key achievements in both his personal and professional life. It was the centerpiece of the party and everyone really enjoyed reading through it.
The Guillory's retirement party was so special and so intimate, and I'm very honored that I was able to be a part of it.
